Prospective Students

Carol Havelka is a passionate and certified Suzuki music educator who loves to share her musical knowledge and skills with students of all ages and abilities. She has a special expertise in teaching beginner and intermediate violin students, helping them to develop their technique, musicality and confidence.

My studio strives to present a friendly and encouraging atmosphere where you can learn to dedicate yourself to musical learning, create a positive and stimulating musical environment for yourself or your child and develop essential technical skills, musical expression, creativity and appreciation of the arts.

If you are looking for a violin teacher who can inspire you, challenge you, and support you, please fill out the form below to start the enrollment process!

Tips on choosing the right teacher

If you are interested in moving forward with learning more about my studio it is important to understand how strong an impact your child's study of music may make on your entire family!

Many Suzuki teachers, as I do, request prospective parents and children to observe individual and group lessons before beginning study. When observing consider the following:

  • Is the atmosphere pleasant and relaxed?
  • Does the teacher expect and receive respectful attention?
  • Is there a good balance between concentrated work and good humor?
  • Are the teacher’s comments supportive and encouraging even when corrections are made?
  • Does the teacher show a grasp of the basic technical problems and demonstrate solutions?
  • Does the teacher make sure the parent understands the goals for home practice?
  • What are the teacher's expectations of his/her students?
  • How do the parents of other students feel about the program?

Ultimately, look for a teacher who provides loving care coupled with high standards for every level of performance. A Suzuki teacher's goal is to consistently challenge students while providing an atmosphere of love and encouragement.

Please read my Studio Policies.

Beginning/Transfer Students:

Interested in moving forward with learning more about my studio?  Please let me know as soon as possible by filling out the form below so I may contact you to schedule some lesson observation times.

There is no charge for observing an ongoing lesson or group class. Observing allows a gentle venue to observe my teaching style, lesson etiquette and expectations, and assist your decision to move forward with formally enrolling in my studio.

Please note that studio availability is limited and, therefore, acceptance is not always guaranteed.

My studio does not base acceptance on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or disability. If I believe that my studio may not best fit a student, I will do my best to recommend other learning options. Please note that all accepted students and/or student families are required to sign a contract, outlining studio policies and student expectations.
