Tuition & Membership

Lessons at Frederick Talent Education are not isolated weekly appointments. Enrollment is offered through a Studio Year membership designed to provide consistency, clear expectations, and meaningful long-term progress. 

Students develop through regular instruction, purposeful home practice, and a shared commitment among teacher, student, and—when applicable—parent.

The 2026–2027 program is organized into Fall Term, Winter Format, and Spring Term.

Studio membership includes:

• 34 scheduled private violin lessons 
• A consistent weekly lesson time 
• 45- or 60-minute private instruction, according to placement and individual need 
• Individualized pacing, repertoire, and technical development 
• A balanced integration of Suzuki principles and traditional violin training 
• Children’s group classes offered throughout the Studio Year 
• Studio recital and performance opportunities 
• Ongoing parent guidance for families of younger students 
• Access to studio scheduling, lesson information, and practice resources through MyMusicStaff 

The published Studio Calendar identifies lesson dates, studio breaks, group offerings, rehearsals, and performances.

Summer instruction is offered through a separately scheduled and separately enrolled Summer Session. Regular Studio Year lesson times do not automatically continue into summer.

Tuition is structured as a Studio Year membership rather than per-lesson billing.

For the 2026–2027 Studio Year, tuition is divided into 10 equal monthly installments from September through June. Monthly payments are not determined by the number of lessons occurring in a particular month.

This structure:

• Reserves the student’s regular weekly lesson time 
• Provides predictable monthly tuition 
• Accommodates normal calendar variation 
• Supports continuity throughout the Studio Year 

• 45-minute private instruction: $245 per month 
• 60-minute private instruction: $320 per month 

Other lesson lengths are available only by teacher arrangement 

New and transfer students begin with an initial six-month commitment. This period allows sufficient time to establish productive lesson routines, develop consistent home practice, and begin meaningful musical progress.

After the initial six-month period, enrollment may be ended with 30 days’ written notice. Tuition remains due through the final month of enrollment.

Students entering after the Studio Year has begun enroll according to current availability. The applicable commitment period and Studio Year schedule will be confirmed before enrollment is completed.

For students under 18, a parent or decision-making adult attends the lesson.

Parents of younger students are expected to:

• Observe attentively 
• Take notes as appropriate 
• Help establish regular listening and practice routines 
• Support the priorities introduced during the lesson 
• Provide a calm and encouraging home-learning environment 

Guidance for supporting home practice is incorporated into lessons and adjusted as the student matures. The long-term goal is not permanent parental supervision, but the gradual development of an independent and responsible musician.

This teacher–parent–student partnership lies at the heart of Suzuki-based study.

If a young child is not ready to participate fully during part of a lesson, that time may be used for parent instruction. This keeps the lesson productive while respecting the child’s developmental readiness.

Adults come to violin study with varied backgrounds and goals—from beginning for the first time to returning after many years away.

Instruction is tailored to the adult student’s experience, pace, physical needs, and musical interests. Lessons emphasize coordination, listening, technical understanding, and expressive playing.

Principles drawn from the Alexander Technique support healthy movement, reduced tension, and sustainable playing.

 Studio membership is best suited to students and families who value:

• Consistent attendance 
• Regular, purposeful home practice 
• Thoughtful and individualized instruction 
• Patience with gradual development 
• A long-term approach to musicianship 
• Clear communication and shared responsibility 

Violin study is not a quick or purely seasonal undertaking. The most rewarding progress develops through steady effort over time.

Lessons missed because of student absence are not rescheduled, refunded, or credited. When appropriate and feasible, an online lesson may be used instead of an in-person lesson.

If the teacher must cancel a scheduled lesson, the lesson will be rescheduled or credited in accordance with the Studio Policies.

Weekly lessons provide guidance, but learning becomes established through regular home practice.

Students are expected to work on the specific priorities identified during the lesson rather than simply playing through all assigned music. Younger students require active parental support; responsibility is gradually transferred to the student as readiness and independence develop.

 Children’s group classes are included as part of the Studio Year program and provide opportunities to reinforce repertoire, musicianship, ensemble awareness, and performance confidence.

Adult students are not expected to attend children’s group classes.

Participation in studio recitals is expected and is included as part of the instructional program. No separate recital participation or lesson fee is charged. When a recital requires a paid venue or accompanist, those costs are collected separately and communicated to families in advance. 

No. The regular Studio Year runs from September through June. Summer instruction is offered through a separate Summer Session with its own enrollment, tuition, and schedule. Because summer teaching days and hours are limited, students may request preferred times, but their regular Studio Year lesson day and time may not carry over into the summer schedule. 

All prospective students begin by submitting an inquiry and completing an Introductory Assessment Lesson. This provides an opportunity to discuss goals, experience the teaching approach, assess readiness, and determine whether the studio is an appropriate fit.
